C H A R A C T E R;
NAME: Death
CANON: Sandman
POINT IN CANON: About a year before the New 52 nonsense went down
AGE: Ten billion... to one significant digit
APPEARANCE: However she wants to look. As a general rule, she is on the short side, with white skin, wild black hair and heavy goth makeup. She also dresses almost exclusively in black. This is a fairly typical example of how she tends to look At least in the modern era, as her appearance changes considerably depending on what century it is.

CANON HISTORY: Have a wiki
CANON PERSONALITY: The most immediately obvious thing about Death is that she is a little ray of sunshine. She’s very good at finding the best in people and events. She takes joy in the simple things. While mortal she has previously expressed the sentiment that apples are amazing and generally raved over little things like food. She figures it’s just as easy to be nice to people as it is to be creepy, and it’s definitely a lot more fun. On a side note, she is likely to find Death the Trump's bone motif a little distasteful.

She also loves absolutely everybody. Being Death means that she knows everyone, and is able to understand them. Since "No one is creepy from the inside" she can’t help loving people. Additionally, she is genuinely interested in people’s lives. Not surprisingly, she will quickly throw herself into getting to know the rest of the characters, no matter how curmudgeonly they might be. She has long considered getting to meet so many neat people to be the best part of her job, and takes particular joy in getting to meet people when they aren’t terrified on account of having just died.

Despite the usual fearful reactions, she is a very down-to-Earth anthropomorphic personification. Death is a steady job, and she’s had plenty of time to grow accustomed to it. Out of all the Endless, she is by far the most well adjusted (admittedly, this isn't hard). She empathizes with people, but she also knows when they need someone to pull them out of a funk. And if that takes the form of throwing a loaf of bread at them, so be it. She’s even less likely to put up with that sort of nonsense from people she is particularly close to. This is quite the opposite of a lack of patience though, motivated by an honest desire to help. That said, it is possible to make her angry, and going out of one’s way to hurt people is a good way to do so.

Although she enjoys her job a great deal, she does take it very seriously. Having seen firsthand what happens when she doesn’t do it right, she knows full well her place in the universe. She is generally quite uncompromising in her responsibilities (she can’t afford not to be), but has been known to make exceptions. Notably, she made Hob Gadling unable to die because she felt that Dream needed a friend. There have been other cases of her making exceptions, usually because she has some sort of prior connection to the person, but these are very rare. In the end she knows she has a responsibility to make sure everything runs smoothly.

One thing that Death is going to struggle with is the notion that they are being sent to different worlds to interfered. Given the sheer magnitude of her power, she has a general policy of not meddling in mortal lives. Unlike her younger siblings, she generally does actually stick to it. So she is going to disapprove fairly strongly of the fact that the Trumps are playing a game.

POINT OF DEPARTURE: N/A
ABILITIES: So remember how Harry Potter magic was so ill defined that this section started with muffled sobbing? Let's just say... it's probably for the best that this is the last character I am permitted to app.

Today we play an exciting game of “nerf ALL the powers!”. Death is an anthropomorphic personification, which is pretty darn far from being human. She is able to control her appearance, including clothing. (This part probably translates to Wardrobe Manipulation) She generally keeps her appearance somewhat in line with the styles of the current era.

Mortals are only able to see her if she allows them to. In a setting like this, she will generally allow everyone to see her unless she has a compelling reason not to. She also treats walls and doors as suggestions, though generally suggestions she takes. Obviously this will not work on any doors that are impassable for plot reasons. She is also able to be in multiple places at the same time, which is probably best translated into one of the Teleportation skills.

As Death, she is the most truly immortal of all the Endless. However, since that is rather twinky in a game environment it will be reduced to being free of the lesser inconveniences of mortality such as needing to eat or sleep and generally quite difficult to kill.

She collects the souls of the deceased with a touch, which is unlikely to come up in game. It should be noted that her touch does not in fact kill. Additionally, she can breathe life into inanimate constructs, which she rarely does. This is presumably right out.

She is also has a near omnipotent mastery of sorcery. Obviously it will be far from omnipotent in game and avoid any spells that would coincide too closely with any Liminal/Psychic skills. Unfortunately, DC magic somehow manages to be even more “a wizard did it” than Harry Potter. Magic includes manipulation of energy/elements, creation of wards and creation of illusions. More generally, it stems from the interplay of order and chaos and bringing one to the other. It requires a source of magical energy, which in Death's case is internal. Mortal sorcerers generally need a considerable amount of concentration in order to wield magic, which will be an adjustment for her.

INVENTORY; Ankh necklace, two pennies, black jeans, black tanktop
ANYTHING ELSE WE SHOULD KNOW? I am so sorry DC magic is somehow vaguer than Harry Potter magic
